A trade union is an association of workers in a particular industry, or company formed to achieve improvements in wages, benefits, working conditions, or social and political status through collective bargaining. The union trains and organizes company representatives to assist union members who have problems at work. Importance of trade unions to workers, is that the representatives provide support and advice and campaign for better terms and wages.

In addition, after consultations, negotiations, and collective bargaining, unions make numerous local agreements on issues affecting individual workplaces.

In workplaces where unions exist, union members benefit from the strength and security that comes from solving problems together. Trade unions can represent the interests of their members outside the workplace. The advantages of trade unions to employees are as follows;

Collective bargaining occurs when a group of people, such as employees of a company, come together to increase their bargaining power. Trade unions are also important advocates for human rights and democracy. They represent members in the workplace, influence workplace rules, and protect from arbitrary disciplinary action or termination.

4. Voice

When individual workers are treated with dignity and respect. Whether workplace rules are perceived to be fair. When an employee raises a concern and it can be resolved fairly. When workers know they can share in the benefits of changing jobs.
