The use of Internet, smartphones have disadvantages of which it includes limiting the speed of instant transmission of high volumes of data all over the world especially if the internet is poor or not available in some parts of the world. 

2. High Equipment Costs

Computers and machinery to use for ICT can be expensive not to mention the issues of monitoring and maintenance. Today a lot of Government expenditure goes towards the cost of buying stationery for official purposes of avoiding to spend too much on computers. Damage done to machinery and improving that for records consume a lot of stationery.

3. Transparency

The use of e-governance somehow limits the functions of the business transparent. All Governmental information can be uploaded onto the internet and with minimal restrictions very few people would have information which is genuine, not to forget the issues sharing false information which can destroy the business name and ethical conduct. The citizens access information they want which can be a very big problem to the businesses, whenever they want it, at their convenience.

4. Accountability

Transparency directly links to accountability which becomes had once most people have access to files and the database. Once the functions of the government are available, either in an institution or company we can not hold them accountable for their actions especially if the system has loopholes and leakages which anyone with good ICT knowledge can easily exploit.

    5. Loss of Interpersonal Communication 

    The main disadvantage of e-governance is the loss of interpersonal communication of which it helps people to bond in the organization, socialize and share ideas. Interpersonal communication is an important aspect of communication that many people consider vital to the well-being of the organization. 

    6. Technical Difficulties

    Technology has its disadvantages as well and the main one is that computers are prone to failure. Specifically, the setup cost is very high and the machines have to be monitored, insured, cleaned and regularly maintained. Often, computers require fast internet speed and internet can also break down or be slow and put a dent in governmental work and delay delivery of services. 

    7. Illiteracy

    A large number of people in Africa especially have little knowledge and are tech-illiterate and do not know how to operate computers, how the internet works and smartphones. Therefore E-governance is very difficult for them to improve the services they need and give access and understand just wh7y they’d need to be using ICT. 

    8. Leakage of Personal Information

    There is always the risk of private data of citizens and information which is stored in government serves being stolen either hackers or people who just have interest in exploring that data. Most company shave been victim’s to this especially within the USA, making people loose confidence in the company, for example to government people need assurance data is protected and may not end up online someday.

    9. Software errors 

    These are the most common types of errors on a computer especially for those been used to perform huge tasks and processing millions of data and are often required to fixed with software updates or patches which can be expensive. Hardware errors are any defects with hardware inside the computer.
